Mar-Bal fire-resistant composite wastebasket promotes fire safety
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), every 24 seconds, a fire department responds to a fire in the U.S. In an effort to combat this problem, Mar-Bal Inc. (Chagrin Falls, Ohio, U.S.), a composites manufacturer and ISO 9001:2015-registered company, has developed the Waste-Safe fire-resistant wastebasket. Made at the company’s state-of-the-art 110,700-square-foot facility in Painesville, Ohio, the fire-resistant wastebaskets are made from thermoset composites with fiberglass reinforcement and are available in a range of colors and sizes.

米国のMar-Bal社は、ガラス繊維と熱硬化性樹脂を用いた難燃性CFRPゴミ箱「Waste-Safe」を開発しました。
記事の中ではガラス繊維と熱硬化性樹脂以外の情報はありませんが、従来の技術にもあるフェノール樹脂などの難燃性樹脂とガラス繊維を複合させることで熱に対する耐久性の向上を行っている他、タルク（滑石を粉砕して得られる含水ケイ酸マグネシウムから成る粘土鉱物粉末）のような無機フィラー（充填剤）を樹脂に混ぜ耐熱性の向上を図る、または良熱伝導性フィラーを混ぜることで蓄熱を防ぐなどの工夫が行われているのではないかと考えられます。
